Door-to Door Ordinance Passes

The City Council passed the Door-to-Door Ordinance last night on a 5-1 vote.  It will take a month or so to get everything operational, but beginning this spring, door-to-door sales people must have a city-issued photo identification badge.  If they don’t, give us a call.

Here are some of the highlights of the new ordinance:
1.      They still can’t knock on your door if you have a “No Solicitors Allowed” sign.

2.      9 a.m. to 8 p.m. no Sundays or legal holidays

3.      Exempts: charitable organizations, school sanctioned fund raisers, religious proselytizing, and political campaigning.

4.      $40 permit fee covers most of the cost which includes fingerprints with an electronic background check.  Denials for prior criminal activity include all felons, sex offenders, violent crimes, and recent drugs convictions.
