No Left Turns on Hitt Road

The no-left-turn signs on Hitt Road between 17th and 25th may have been a pain to maneuver, but they’ve definitely saved a lot of hurt and agony.  From the chart above, there are two compelling observations.

1.      The number of crashes were cut by more than half

2.      Even more compelling - the number of injuries were seven times lower.

On the downside, it has been a real inconvenience to shoppers – especially on the Ammon side.  The longer term solution is to rework the roadway with raised dividers and lanes for U-Turns, but that will take some financial cooperation between the two cities.  Hopefully, Ammon and Idaho Falls will be able to work through the details.

In the meantime, I’d just as soon take the inconvenience over losing a leg in a car accident.
